LOCAL

St Laurent des Hommes:  3 km away is our local village where you will find bakers, newsagents, hairdressers, post office, the historic church and not forgetting the local bar/restaurant, which is typically French and friendly.

Mussidan: is our local town just 7 km away, here you will find anything else you may need.

Supermarket’s, bars/restaurants, pleasant riverside walks a weekly market (Saturday mornings). You will also find the very helpful local tourist information office.

Lac Jemaye and Lac de Gurson

The Dordogne is surrounded by lakes, and many have been turned into safe, sandy beaches for swimming and sailing. Most have bars/restaurants.

OTHER PLACES TO VISIT

There are so many beautiful and interesting places to visit in this region; it’s quite impossible to list them all. Here are just a few:

 

Périgueux: The capital city of the Dordogne, with its gracious blend of ancient and modern. There are many historical attractions in Périgueux.

Brantôme: This charming town is an Island encircled by a loop of the river Dronne, linked to the outside world by five bridges, which explains how it got its reputation as the “Venice of Périgord.

Saint-Emilion: This medieval village is today best known for its full-bodied deep red wines and its lovely golden-hued medieval houses and monuments.

Bergerac: Like St-Emilion is famous for its wines, but is also a tobacco-growing centre and has a fascination tobacco museum.

Arcachon: Here you will find mile upon mile of unspoilt, uncrowed golden beaches, and some of the largest sand dunes in Europe.
